Winchester, VA- Bank of the Valley in Virginia $1-$1-$1-$2 18__ G4-G4-G4-G8 Uncut Sheet Choice Crisp Uncirculated.
The bank was chartered in 1817 and remained in business, ultimately with six branches, until the bank failed during the aftermath of the Civil War; suspending in 1865. In 1866, principals of the old bank formed the Shenandoah Valley National Bank, using the old bank's building in Winchester. This sheet of notes was intended for branch use, with the location to be written in.
