Description

Troy, NY - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 467 The Troy City National Bank Ch. # 640 PMG Extremely Fine 40.
From this better Troy bank that merged out of existence in 1902 comes this lovely $5 Brown Back. It is one of just five $5 Brown Backs reported, and is quite possibly the finest known (One other example is listed as XF but it has never been publicly offered). It is well margined with ideal color and the bold pen signatures of President George A. Stone and Cashier Frank E. Norton, who were the officers when the bank closed in 1902.
