Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ 1928A $2 Legal Star
Fr. 1502* $2 1928A Legal Tender Note. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.This piece was one of the highlights of the Flynn holdings, where we described it as "Between the two services this note holds the distinction of being the highest graded example for this issue as well as the only new example graded. The Schwartz/Lindquist guide does not even list a value above Choice CU. This is a monster note that will highlight any collection. Expect the hammer to fall in the area of $15,000-$25,000." Little did we know that a bidding war would ensue, driving the note up to $63,250. Five years later, this is still just as rare, and still the only third party graded Gem example of this rare star.
