Description

Jefferson City, MO- State of Missouri (Secessionist) $3 Jan. 1, 1862 Cr. 8 PMG Choice About Unc 58 EPQ.
This note was issued by the Secessionist state government of Missouri well after it had evacuated Jefferson City in early 1861. The government travelled with Confederate forces for the remainder of the war and may have issued notes like this "from the back of a horse." The note features a portrait of the secessionist Governor, Claiborne Fox Jackson and, for some reason, the Virginia coat of arms at left. A frontiersman appears at right. There is a large green THREE protector and the note was printed on blue paper.
