Description

George West, TX - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 635 The First National Bank Ch. # 12919 PMG Very Fine 20.
This offering is a bright mid-grade $10 that is one of only seven large-size reported from this uniquely named institution, just six of which are available to collectors. George West began as a land venture and ranching enterprise of George Washington West and Katie West. Originally from San Antonio, West began to build his town in 1913, after ranching in the area from 1880 to 1912. A National Bank soon followed, although the venture lasted only from 1926 through 1934. Some repairs have been noted by PMG.
