Description
South Carolina April 10, 1778 10s PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.On March 28, 1778, the General Assembly authorized 100,000 Pounds of Lawful Money. Printed on thin, laid paper, a Palmetto tree is seen at lower right with signatures of John Beale and John Peronneau. Gems from this series are very challenging to locate. The present note shows wide margins, bright paper, and excellent printing. The PMG Population Report shows this Gem 66 EPQ perched on high by itself, a Choice Unc 64 EPQ is its closest competitor. Notes from this series do not come much prettier than this.
