Description
Chester, SC- Bank of Chester $20 May 1, 1860 G16b Sheheen 124 PMG Very Fine 20.This variety of the $20, enhanced by the addition of a larger and more elaborate array of red-orange protective design elements including a 20 - xx - 20 protector panel was issued in the months leading up to the beginning of the Civil War and has the ABNCo imprint. The design retained all of the previously used vignettes including a large passenger train vignette. Much scarcer than the earlier TCC & Co. variety with just a simple red TWENTY protector.
