Disney Dollars Disneyland Progressive / Underprint Plate Test Proof $1 1987 Rodgers R-001pp Ryan Page 180 PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.A Proof of the very first Disney $1 design is in this lot. Disney Dollar Proofs are discussed on pages 179-84 in Disney Numismagic by Teddy C. Ryan III. The example in this lot is listed as a Progressive / Underprint Plate Test on page 180 in the Ryan reference. This is only the second example we have offered of this Proof variety. In fact, PMG has graded only eight Progressive Proofs of this number with just one graded equal and another higher. The Ryan reference is needed for Disney Proofs as the older Disney reference, The History of Disney Dollars by Charles T. Rodgers, does not mention or list Proofs. PMG uses the basic Rodgers numbering system for Proofs and adds a "p" (Proof) or "pp" (Progressive Proof) after the number.
