Bristol, RI- Commercial Bank Altered $5 Oct. 1, 1858
The bank operated from 1809-69 and was also known as the Bristol Commercial Bank. "COUNTERFEIT MERCHANTS BANK" has been stamped across the face and back of this scarce note. Interestingly, not only was this note altered from a Commercial Bank of Millington, Millington, MD $5 note, but the center vignette was also replaced. Good, severed and taped. There will be no returns on this lot for any reason.
