Description
Richmond, VA- J.D. Edwards 50¢ July 14, 1862 Jones-Littlefield PR60-295 PMG Choice Fine 15.This variety of this Confederate Army mail and news contractor's note indicates his affiliation with the Eighth Brigade of the Army of Northern Virginia. The Eighth Brigade of the Army of Northern Virginia comprised the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and later the 5th Louisiana Infantry Regiments. Brigadier General Richard Taylor, son of the late President, commanded them for a time. As with all other notes from this issuer, Jones estimates a surviving population of only 2-4 examples. PMG notes that this note has had a tiny piece of the lower right corner tip replaced.
