T6 $50 1861 PF-1 Cr. 6 PCGS Banknote Very Fine 30. The T6 $50 Confederate Treasury Note was emitted from August 25 through September 23, 1861, and just 5,798 examples were issued. This type, along with the T5 $100, were the last two types produced as part of the first series of Confederate Treasury Notes, authorized under the Act of March 9, 1861. They were also the first two types to be printed after the Confederate capital moved from Montgomery, AL, to Richmond, VA. This high quality piece, engraved by the SBNCo, features
Justice with scales and sword at left and a portrait of George Washington at right. The center is graced by a depiction of
Ceres and
Pallas conversing while seated atop cotton bales. A green "L - FIFTY - L" protector completes the design. This piece is well printed with bold signatures and a nearly full frame. A number of small stains have not been mentioned by the third-party grading service.
