Highest denomination of the final Banco Nacional Ultramarino banknote series issued in Angola. In 1927, the Banco de Angola took over currency operations in this Portuguese colony. This series, featuring the portrait of Francisco de Oliveira Chamico, is desired by collectors, with the higher denominations being especially rare. For this denomination, four signature varieties are known, with a cumulative print total of 300,000 notes. This example features the first signature combination, of which only 30,000 notes were issued. At the time of cataloging, PMG has graded only two issued notes across all known signature possibilities. Repairs, stains, and lightened annotations are mentioned for accuracy. Nevertheless extremely rare as an issued banknote.
