Description:
Premium Paper Quality Binion $10000
Fr. 2231-B $10000 1934 Federal Reserve Note. PCGS Very Choice New 64PPQ.
Benny Binion's ostentatious display of $1 Million in cash at his Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas was a popular icon of the city for years. One hundred $10000 Federal Reserve Notes were framed in a large horseshoe shaped display case near the entrance to the casino. The display was put together with little regard to preserving the pieces, while some of the notes were not quite Uncirculated before being being placed in the display. Fortunately, this example was preserved well enough to earn a full Uncirculated grade and the Premium Paper Quality designation as well. Its originality is easily seen through the PCGS holder, with intricate and bold embossing visible, as well as pleasing paper wave. The paper and design details remain bright and colorful. In addition to the exceptional quality of this particular Binion note, its little sister, a New York $5000 in the same grade, is also offered in this auction. With few remaining $5000 and $10000 notes known to collectors, finding or assembling a matched Uncirculated set from one district can take years to accomplish, and in many cases, is not possible, but this pair provides a happy exception.
