Description:
Unique Santa Claus Note With this Design & Overprint
New York, NY- Saint Nicholas Bank $5 Feb. 24, 1864 G8c
A note that was listed as SENC, Surviving Example Not Confirmed, in the Haxby reference, this is the only reported example that has surfaced in the intervening twenty four years. PCGS Apparent Fine 15 with minor edge splits cited as the reason for the apparent grade. The edge splits are indeed trivial, and meaningless on a note of this rarity. The Santa Type V vignette is bold and unmolested. A well signed, attractive example with far more eye appeal than the grade of this unique piece might imply, and a magnificent addition to any collection of obsolete currency.
