Description:
Serial Number One Boston Lazy Deuce- One of Two Known From Massachusetts
Boston, MA - $2 Original Fr. 389 The Central NB Ch. # 2103
A wonderful note which is one of the highlights of the Capital District Collection. It comes from a rare Boston bank which has had only one offering at public sale since 1995, and it is one of only two serial number 1 Lazy Deuces known from all banks combined in the state of Massachusetts. The other serial number 1 specimen (from a considerably more common bank and in the same grade as this piece) now resides in a prominent Massachusetts collection after having sold for $69,000 in 2008. Our consignor obtained this note as one of the last notes he bought before he passed away nearly two decades ago, and it has remained off the market until this evening. Any estimate is simply a guess here, but only one collector has the opportunity to own both number 1 Deuces by adding this fabulous rarity to his holdings tonight. PMG About Uncirculated 50.
