Description:
Exceptional Gem New 66PPQ Fr. 263--Tied for PCGS Finest Known
Fr. 263 $5 1886 Silver Certificate PCGS Gem New 66PPQ.
Of the 74 Fr. 263 examples that PCGS has graded, not one has graded higher than this lovely Gem New 66 PPQ. Silver Dollar Backs at the top end of the condition census do not appear with much frequency, and there are never enough of them to fulfill collector demand. This type has always been extremely popular due in large part to the five Morgan Silver Dollars that are the main features of the back engraving. With demand for notes at the top end of the grade range surging (due to collector interest in assembling the finest of Registry Sets), any estimate here is simply a guess, but it would be highly unlikely that the figure below would not be easily surpassed this evening.
