Confederate 8% Stock Certificate $100 February 28, 1861 Ball 12 Cr. 2
Another Very Fine+ example, this $100 certificate bears the portrait of Andrew Jackson. Numbered 178 of the 250 that were issued at Montgomery, it is dated May 14, 1861. This example was entered by HD Capers, Memminger's personal secretary, and recorded by CT Jones. It was signed by the first Register of the Treasury, Alexander B. Clitherall. An assignment by JR Robertson to Thomas M Horsey of Charleston dated May 21, 1862 is observed on the back of this piece. Hinges are noticed on the back at two vertical splits.
