Description:

First Ever Public Offering

Fr. 1080a $100 1914 Red Seal Federal Reserve Note PMG Very Good 10 NET. This Minneapolis Red Seal Hundred is incredibly rare, with only three pieces, including this one, listed in the Track & Price census. One of those three is permanently impounded in the Smithsonian. Fr. 1080a is one of the very few Federal Notes that has never been offered at public auction. This 1080a is the only one of the three to have been graded by any service. The Smithsonian note is reported to be XF, with both this note and the third example, the whereabouts of which we do not know, about the same grade. While this piece faces up quite well for a VG, it does have a professionally masked-out stain and a rebuilt upper-left corner tip that affects nothing but blank paper. An incredible rarity, worth whatever it costs to bring it home.
