Description:

PMG 58 EPQ Fr. 354 - Likely the Finest Known Example

Fr. 354 $2 1890 Treasury Note PMG Choice About Unc 58 EPQ. One of the rarest (31 known) of the Treasury Notes, and a note that is virtually unavailable in high grade. There are a number of auction records for uncirculated notes over the past eight years, but all are for the same two notes, neither of which has been graded by PCGS or PMG. In fact, of the seven they've seen, this note is the single Fr. 354 that PMG has graded above the 40 grade; PCGS has examined three 354's and the highest they've graded is a 40. This 58 EPQ has wonderful original embossing, perfect colors, excellent margins and tremendous eye appeal. PMG has awarded it two significant positive comments: first, "Exceptional Paper Quality," and second, "Great Embossing." PMG has also pointed out that this great note, from the Tom Flynn Collection, is "Ex Donlon." We would not be at all surprised if this note remained alone as the top piece graded by a major grading service for decades to come. It may well be the finest 354 in existence.
