Description

New Jersey March 25, 1776 18d with John Hart signature PMG Choice Uncirculated 63. The signature of John Hart, a signer of the Declaration of Independence is seen on this widely margined, well-printed 18 pence note. Hart was known as "Honest John Hart." During the war, he was forced to hide in a dog kennel one night. The other two signers of this example were Robert Smith and John Stevens, Jr. Plate letter C is observed. Pinholes were mentioned by PMG. A few small areas of staining are noticed.
