Description

North Carolina December, 1771 £1 PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30. Many endorsements are found on the back of this note that has an apparent grade due to splits repaired. This example has the "I. ASHE" stamp on the back representing John Ashe, the Treasurer of the Southern District of North Carolina. The stamps are believed to have been a control feature and are usually found on the backs of the £1 notes and higher denominations.
