Description

$100 1914 San Francisco Serial Number One Red Seal

Fr. 1083a $100 1914 Red Seal Federal Reserve Note PCGS Very Choice New 64PPQ.
The last note of this extraordinary offering, one which is certain to be remembered for years to come. Four other serial number 1 Red Seal hundreds are reported, with two, the examples from the New York and Chicago districts, in museum or government hands. The Richmond district specimen is known to be "well circulated," per Dean Oakes, but has never been offered at public sale, with the only example to have a sale pedigree, the note from the Philadelphia district, not having been seen since an auction appearance in 2004. This specimen is fresh, fully embossed, and as bright as the day it came off the press. It will easily become the centerpiece of the collection it enters, and, like all of these magnificent number 1 examples, is certain to delight its very fortunate new owner.
