Description

Excessively Rare 1863 $100 Interest Bearing Note--One of Three Known

Fr. 199 $100 1863 Interest Bearing Note Choice Very Fine. One of only three examples known of this number, and one of those three has simply been reported by grade and serial number and has not been seen on the market. The second, in the same grade as this note, has been auctioned twice, first in May 1999 where it realized $69,000, and again in June 2000 where it realized $75,500. This particular example has no auction record, it is both the Friedberg and Hessler illustration note, which was previously owned by Amon Carter. After Amon's untimely passing, the note was sold for the Carter family by Johnny Rowe in Jun 1984. It has been off the market since that time. It is a very beautiful note with excellent color, and no problems of any kind.
