Description

Premium Paper Quality $10000

Fr. 2231-G $10000 1934 Federal Reserve Note. PCGS Extremely Fine 45PPQ.
In 2005, this stunningly original $10000 was presented as part of the Taylor Family Collection. At that time it was described in part, "For some years there has been considerable debate among experts as to whether the light green seal/dark green seal printings which took place in the lower denomination 1934 series notes were replicated in the $5000 and $10000 denominations. The appearance of this note should provide a definitive answer, and lay this question to rest once and for all, as this indisputably appears to be a dark green seal example. The note is unmolested and entirely original, and comes from a district which issued enough notes to have logically had several if not numerous distinct press runs even in this denomination. A side by side comparison with the Chicago district note offered above should convince even the most recalcitrant of observers that this is indeed a true dark green seal example." It has since been given the coveted "Premium Paper Quality" descriptor by PCGS, a rarity among $5000s and $10000s, as many have seen restorations to improve their eye appeal and value. Collectors will easily place a premium on this note's undoubted originality.
