Handsome Large Brown Seal 1880 Hundred
Fr. 172 $100 1880 Legal Tender PMG Very Fine 30 NET. Only 11 examples are known of this number, including this note, which we sold to our consignor in January 1996 for $7150. PMG has NET graded the note for "Tear Top Margin", which is a short split at the top center. This is a note where a short run of high-grade pieces has skewed the condition census. Five consecutive Uncirculated notes are known--one of them in a PCGS 65 holder realized $109,250 in October 2005. We sold a raw VG 10 in January 2004 for $8357.
