Description

High Grade Fifty Dollar FRBN

Fr. 831 $50 1918 Federal Reserve Bank Note PMG About Uncirculated 55. PMG has graded twelve examples of this rare and extremely popular type. The only uncirculated one is a single 64. Fifty-one examples are known, according to the most recent Track & Price census, of this St. Louis District $50 FRBN, and St. Louis was the only district to issue them, making these one of the rarest Type Notes. Many of the known notes are three-digit serial numbers, and this H176A is the highest number known from the second pack. It's a well margined, good looking note. We have no doubt PMG has located a fold somewhere, but it's not visible through the third-party holder. Although this note is listed on the census (as uncirculated), Tom has owned it for decades, and it has no prior auction history.
