Fr. 164 $50 1880 Legal Tender PMG Very Fine 30. PMG has noted, "Minor Restoration," on this basic $50 Legal Tender Type Note. This has always been a rather interesting type, as in spite of a sizeable number (196 pieces) known there are no runs of uncirculated notes. In fact, no uncirculated piece from either of the two major grading services has ever reached the market. Both services have had only XF notes auctioned. We sold a PMG 45 in September of 2007 for just a shade over $10,000, and we would expect this note to easily pass half that amount.From The Thomas M. Flynn Collection
