Finest Known $10 Petaluma National Gold Bank Note

Petaluma, CA - $10 Original National Gold Bank Note Fr. 1149 The First National Gold Bank Ch. # 2193
This is one of the great notes that Tom Flynn acquired for his collection during the four decades he collected. It comes from one of the very rarest of the National Gold Bank Notes, with a population of only eleven original and two 1875 National Gold Bank Notes, just seven of which are $10 Original examples. This piece is "tied" with one other for the finest $10 known, although in a side by side comparison, having seen both pieces, there is no doubt this is the finer of the pair. It is an incredibly original specimen with not a trace of a restoration or repair of any kind. The colors are bright, the overprint a flaming red, and the signatures untouched by time. Very Fine, a wonderful note certain to delight the collector fortunate enough to bring this example home tonight.
From The Thomas M. Flynn Collection
