Description
Unique Series 692 Specimen Book The existence of this newly discovered book, which is offered here to the numismatic community for the first time, comes as a complete surprise to even the most experienced members of the MPC collecting fraternity. This book, entitled Progressive Impressions, Composite Impressions, and Specimens of Military Payment Certificates Series 692 is a collector's dream, containing, as it does, nine four subject sheets of each denomination from the 5¢ through the $20 in every possible printing permutation, from an all serial number E00000000E complete specimen printing to progressive impressions of all parts of the face and back of every note in every denomination. All of the pages are placed between black covers and each and every page is in its perfect as made Gem Uncirculated condition. There is a total of 288 proof and specimen impressions, counting each note as a single item, including, of course, the perennially popular $10 and $20 Indian notes. The only previously reported specimen impressions for this series was a one of each denomination all zeroes soft covered specimen book. Similar items, containing eight pieces, one of each denomination, have sold for ten to fifteen thousand dollars and up. Any estimate of a book containing 288 individual specimen and progressive proof examples is a mere guess, but this unique item, the only one known of its kind in the entire MPC field, is certainly a six-figure item, and perhaps more. It will be interesting to see who steps forward today to take advantage of what is almost certainly a once in a lifetime opportunity.Auction Info
