Description

St. Louis $5000

Fr. 2221-H $5000 1934 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45 Net.
This is only the third example of a 1934 $5000 from this district that we have had the privilege of handling. It is no surprise that the St. Louis district is rare, as it issued just a few hundred more notes than the still unreported Cleveland District, which issued the fewest. It is difficult to say if this piece is a technical About Uncirculated or better, but it certainly has all the eye appeal that comes with that grade. PMG has given it a Net grade due to an internal restoration, which is limited mostly to the field and leaves the most important design elements undisturbed. The vivid paper and bright, lime-green overprint add to the aesthetics.
