Classically Rare Fr. 97 PMG 30
Fr. 97 $10 1875 Legal Tender PMG Very Fine 30. Fewer than a dozen Fr. 97's are known, and there is not a single uncirculated piece among them. Fr. 97 is a classically rare note. CAA has handled only three examples in our previous 45+ sales, an Extra Fine back in 1992, a Choice About New in September 2003, and another Very Fine. This note is one of only about a dozen examples known to exist, and it is easily within the top half in the census. We sold another Very Fine in January 2006 at our annual FUN auction which realized $25,875. This currently offered piece, which has been sold several times as an XF, and now resides in a PMG VF30 holder, is likely to pass that level.From The Lincoln Collection
