Fr. 2407 $500 1928 Gold Certificate. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.The sale of the Jupiter Collection in our 2008 September Long Beach Signature Auction was the last opportunity for collectors to bid on a Gem graded $500 Gold Certificate. That piece was a PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ, which realized $149,500. The realization was after what everyone considers the height of the currency market for ultra rarities. Punch through embossing of the seal and serial numbers is seen in the open areas of the back design. Bright paper and ideal inks are combined for perfect Gem eye appeal. Most collectors would be hard pressed to find the difference between this note and the Gem 66 EPQ that we sold, yet it will likely sell for between half and two thirds of the price this evening, making it a real bargain for the collector who will walk away with it this evening.
