Description

Toronto, ON- The Agricultural Bank $4, $5 1835, 1837 Ch. # 20-12-02-10, 20-12-04-08
Two pieces, both payable in Montreal, from this early bank. This pioneering institution was the first in Canada to pay interest on deposits (a practice strongly criticized by other banks at the time), and the first to allow clients to write checks on their personal savings accounts. The $4 grades Fine, the $5 is About Uncirculated with a small body hole that affects little.
From The Thomas M. Flynn Collection (Total: 2 notes)
