Likely Unique Upside Down Numeral in Charter Number
Malta, OH- $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 628 The Malta NB Ch. # 2052 A likely unique error features an upside down five as part of the bank's charter number on the left side of the note. We have never seen or heard of another error of this type (although we have seen several mismatched charter numbers), and can offer no explanation as to how one number was printed upside down. With several mismatched charter examples known, and with price levels routinely at five figures for such large notes, it would appear that this so far unique piece should easily reach or exceed that figure, but we will be conservative and estimate this decent Fine specimen at only...Auction Info
