Unique Ouachita National Bank

Monroe, LA - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 469 The Ouachita NB Ch. # 3692
Were it not for large groups of surviving notes from Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Shreveport, Louisiana would be among the top three or four scarcest states in the Union for National Bank Notes. Many Louisiana banks have few survivors, and this bank is no exception. After thirty years in business, the Ouachita NB managed to issue just over $82,000 in Nationals and only $2,310 was outstanding in 1910. This piece retains its penned signatures and has problem free paper. Our records indicate no unique Louisiana National has been offered in recent years, so any attempt to provide an estimate for this PMG Fine 12 note is simply a guess...
