Description
One of Three Reported
Denver, CO - $5 1875 Fr. 401 The Colorado NB Ch. # 1651This is one of three $5 1875 examples reported from this institution, and the finest of the trio at that. It's signed by F.H. Woodelton as Cashier and Charles B. Kountze as President, with Charles having stepped up to the job as President after Luther's departure for New York in 1868. Once in New York, Luther established a successful investment bank, became a patron of the arts, and was a founder of the Metropolitan Opera, living until 1918. This note grades Very Fine, with its only real defect a tiny hole along a fold which is barely worthy of mention. The colors are bright, the signatures bold, and the rarity of the note is unquestioned.
