Description
New Hampshire, August 24, 1775, Three Pound Note. Fr #NH-141. PMG About Uncirculated 50. S/N: 3260, signatures: Nicholas Gilman & E. Thompson. A truly rare piece of Colonial Currency, much moreso than the 30 and 40 Shilling notes from the November, 1775 issue that followed this. In 2006, Heritage sold a gem example of this note (s/n #1511) for in excess of $5000. The example used for the Newman plate (s/n #1462) is slightly brighter than the current offering. Unpriced above EF ($2500) in Newman. Noted "tear" in the upper margin extends just barely into the printed design 1/4" in from the note's edge, above and to the right of the "s" in "Pounds." A very attractive and choice example of this colonial rarity.
