Heritage to Present 5,000+ Lot Currency Signature Auction at Central States, April 29-May 3

Dallas, TX - The Official Currency Auction of the 2009 CSNS Convention will be conducted by Heritage-Currency Auctions of America April 29 to May 3. A total of 5,236 lots will be presented in four floor sessions and an online session. The floor auction and lot viewing will be conducted at the Duke Energy Convention Center, Rooms 263, 264 525 Elm Street, Cincinnati, Ohio.

The auction is anchored by the type note currency collection of Chet Krause, founder of Krause Publications and a long-time leading numismatist. Many of the notes in this auction were plate notes in numerous Krause Publication references, including the Standard Guide to Small-Size U.S. Paper Money and the Standard Catalog of United States Paper Money. Other noteworthy collections at Central States include the Old North Church Collection, the Joseph C. Thomas Collection, and the Sky Room Collection, each of which feature selections of Large Size notes, sought after for their rarity and pristine levels of preservation. The Yoder Family Collection may be the finest offering of Ohio National Bank Notes ever.

Session One commences Wednesday evening, April 29, at 6 p.m. EST, and includes another solid selection of Colonials, Obsolete Bank Notes, Canadian Currency, Fractional Currency, Confederate Notes, and Encased Postage. Highlights include a Vermont 2s6d graded by PCGS and a Fractional Currency Presentation Book once owned by Spencer M. Clark, Superintendant of the National Currency Bureau.

Thursday, April 30 at 6 p.m. EST, National Bank Notes will be sold, including the impressive Yoder Family Collection. The collection features hundreds of National Bank Notes from the Buckeye State, including many unique items, and notes that have previously been off the market for decades. Eight of the notes are unique for the bank, with a few being unique even for the town. Here are just a few of the highlights, a Serial Number One Bellefontaine, OH - $5 1875 Fr. 404 The Peoples NB Ch. # 2480, unique for the bank and town Delta, OH - $10 1882 Brown Back Fr. 490 The Farmers NB Ch. # 5577, a Toledo, OH - $50 1882 Brown Back Fr. 513 The Holcomb NB Ch. # 4585 which is singular for the bank, and a Serial Number One Uncut Sheet, Findlay, OH - $10-$10-$10-$20 1902 Plain Back Fr. 624/650 The American-First NB Ch. # (M)36.

Other highlights from the National Bank Note Session include pleasing selections of Iowa and Utah notes as well as a Serial Number One National Gold Bank Note, Sacramento, CA - $5 Original NGBN Fr. 1138 The National Gold Bank of D.O. Mills & Co. Ch. # 2014, a Kahului, Territory of Hawaii - $10 1902 DB Fr. 617 The Baldwin NB Ch. # (P)8207, and an incredible Kentucky rarity, Cave City, KY - $10 1902 DB Fr. 617 The H.Y. Davis NB Ch. # (S)7919.

A Territory of South Dakota note signed by iconic Sheriff Seth Bullock will also be included in the session, Deadwood, Territory of Dakota- $5 1875 Fr. 404 The Merchants NB Ch. # 2461. For collectors of National Bank Notes by type, the incredibly rare New York, NY - $50 1875 Fr. 444a The National Broadway Bank Ch. # 687 is just one of four known for the Friedberg number.

Friday, May 1, Small Size and Error Notes will be offered at 1 p.m. EST, and will include many of the aforementioned Chet Krause Collection plate notes. Highlights from this afternoon session include three $5,000 Federal Reserve Notes and three $10,000 Federal Reserve Notes. One of the first few lots is an incredible small size star rarity, Fr. 1500* $1 1928 Legal Tender Star Note. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ. A group of 1933 $10 Silvers is led by a PCGS graded Gem New 65PPQ, Serial Number 99. Another small size star rarity will follow in the World War II Emergency Notes section, the finest graded $20 Hawaii star note, Fr. 2305* $20 1934A Hawaii Federal Reserve Note. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ. One of Chet Krause's finest small size type notes will also be offered, Fr. 2308 $10 1934 North Africa Silver Certificate. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ. A newly discovered Serial Number One Star Note will be featured. It is the only known Serial Number One Star Note from the Series 1976 $2 Federal Reserve Notes, Fr. 1935-L* $2 1976 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Choice About Unc 58 EPQ.

The auction will continue with Session Four the evening of May 1 at 7 p.m. EST. This session will feature a couple of Kingdom of Hawaii notes, two Federal Proofs, and then will move into Large Size U.S. Currency, highlighted by the Chet Krause, Sky Room, and Old North Church Collections. A new discovery note, the Fr. 788a $5 1915 Federal Reserve Bank Note graded Very Fine 25 by PMG, is one of the most talked about items being offered. Other highlights include, the finest graded Fr. 164 $50 1880 Legal Tender PMG Choice Uncirculated 64, the Serial Number 4 Fr. 298 $10 1891 Silver Certificate PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ Fr. 378 $100 1891 Treasury Note PMG Fine 12 Net, and a Fr. 1220 $1,000 1922 Gold Certificate PMG Choice Very Fine 35 Net.

The Non-Floor Session of the 2009 CSNS Heritage Currency Signature Auction will be available for viewing in Cincinnati and closes on Heritage Live on Sunday May 3rd, starting at 11 a.m. CST. Many more of the Chet Krause Collection plate notes and low and fancy serial numbered notes will be featured in this session, including, a Serial Number 19 Fr. 1701 $10 1934 Silver Certificate. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64, and consecutively Serial Numbered 8 and 9 Fr. 1607 $1 1935 Silver Certificates.
