From a bank with just nine large examples documented in the latest edition of the census. This Very Fine piece was likely carried for a time as a keepsake in someone's wallet, as it has light indications of such. With the exception of a three digit serial listed in the census as "CU", most of the known seven $10 Plain Back survivors from here are circulated and bear serials higher than 5000. The margins are full and attractive all around and the officers' ink signatures are strongly legible, including that of the Vice President. A difficult issuer to acquire and one that should be worth at least....

A classic Very Fine enhanced by nice centering as well as strong officers' ink signatures. This small community in Hancock County, once a passenger stop on the Chicago Burlington and Quincy Rail Road, supported but one issuing bank, chartered late enough that its issue extended only to Third Charter designs and the $5 1929 Ty. 1 before the depression claimed it as a victim in 1930. Bid liberally, as our conservative estimate may prove to be too restrained in the current strong market for better Nationals.

A great Wisconsin rarity which is one of only three $100 Red Seals extant from the entire state, and, just as important, the only one that has any real chance of becoming available in this generation, as the other two reported examples are locked away in major holdings and are most unlikely to reach the market in the foreseeable future. Bright Very Fine, a true trophy note of the highest importance for any collector hoping to complete a type set of this state's Nationals.

Fr. 915c $10 1914 Federal Reserve Note Superb Gem New. This Philadelphia District example is the most common of the "c"-type Tens, although it is far from a common note with only about two dozen examples known in all grades combined. It's an ideal piece to represent this scarce type, as they simply do not come any finer. It's deeply originally embossed, with bright colors, ideal centering and super eye appeal.

Fr. 2301* $5 1934 Mule Hawaii Federal Reserve Note. Very Fine-Extremely Fine.
The $5 denomination is easily the key to the short series of Hawaii star notes, with examples in any grade few and far between. This piece, the highest number reported to date and at the very end of the run of 72,000 examples printed, has retained all of its bright colors and eye appeal despite just a bit of light circulation. Expect this to easily outdo the Oakes catalogue valuation of $2500 in Very Fine.

The last of five genuine "Red Back" Republic of Texas notes, all pen-cancelled as "Counterfeit" but clearly genuine examples. It was the particular engraving plate characteristics of this note, as compared to a known genuine note, that helped us determine that these were not counterfeits but were indeed genuine notes that had been mistaken as fakes long ago. This example grades Very Fine, with scattered pinholes but no other flaws.
