The signature of Thomas Fisher in red ink has faded a little, but the signatures in black ink of Samuel Howell, Jr. and Joseph Pemberton remain bold. The nature print on the back is attractive. Fr. 1953-F $5 1928C Federal Reserve Note. PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45 EPQ.
This Friedberg number is needed by every serious collector of $5 Feds. This is a rare series that was printed only for the districts of Cleveland, Atlanta, and San Francisco. However, only Atlanta notes are known, even with die-hard collectors looking for the past 75 years. Ideal color, bright paper, traces of embossing, and ample margins are found on this attractive key note. This is one of the highest graded Fr. 1953-F notes by PMG with a mere six notes earning higher grades. Not only was there a small printing for this short-lived series during the Great Depression, the populace as a whole was not able to put aside notes during this time. The example we are now offering will hold its own even in a collection of higher graded notes.
