Description:
Fr. 328 $50 1880 Silver Certificate Choice Extremely Fine. In spite of around thirty examples of this number being known, they seldom appear on the market, and certainly not in this grade. One reason for this, nearly a third of the known examples are in Federal Reserve Banks and other government institutions. This one is in actuality one of the five finest pieces available to the collecting community. It is free of restorations, beautifully margined, with spectacular color and no soil circulation at all. In fact, the note carries the eye appeal of a fully uncirculated piece, which is what we believed it to be prior to removing it from the holder and examining it closely. Fifty dollar silvers, even in low grade, always attract considerable auction attention and this beauty will certainly garner its fair share from potential new owners as it crosses the auction block this evening.
