Description:
Unique for the Bank & Town
Corona, NY - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 615 The First NB Ch. # (E)8853
The acquisition of a note from this one bank Queens community was long the holy grail for collectors of New York City notes, as examples were missing from every great New York collection ever formed, including those of Albert A. Grinnell, James M. Wade, Bill Donlon, Joe Sande, Alan York, Marvin Levine, and your cataloguer, who was among the many who seriously sought rarities from this always much collected county. It was not until a couple of years ago that this marvelous specimen surfaced, a piece which was obtained privately by our consignor after the expenditure of much blood, sweat, and treasure, although mostly the last. It is offered here for the first time at public sale, and what it might bring is truly anyone's guess, as it is an item of singular rarity from a county with more than a few avid partisans. Pen signed PCGS Very Fine 30, a wonderful trophy item which can not be duplicated at any price.
