After more than forty years in the business, your cataloguer sometimes believes that he has seen it all, a feeling that is instantly dissipated when a newly discovered rarity such as a Nebraska $50 Red Seal crosses his desk. Despite a dedicated cadre of Nebraska enthusiasts stretching back to the 1950's, not a single $50 Red Seal from the Cornhusker State had ever turned up. This piece came right out of the weeds late last year and is being offered to the collecting community for the first time in this sale. Luckily for collectors, this specimen is an absolute peach, with a vivid red overprint, strong signatures, and bright white paper, in other words, a note any collector could easily fall in love with. PCGS assigned a grade of Very Fine 25.
