Description:
Serial Number 580 T1 1861 $1000 Montgomery
T1 $1000 1861 PF-1 Cr. 1 CC & HOC.
The Montgomery $1000 was the only type of this denomination issued by the Confederacy and it was the highest denomination from the Southern government. The quantity issued for this denomination was only 607. Soon thereafter, the Confederacy transferred its seat of government to Richmond and most of the notes were redeemed. This was due to the fact that these notes were payable just twelve months after the issue date and they accrued interest at 10 cents per day. Serial number 580 is bestowed upon this note which has been graded PCGS Apparent Choice About New 58. Some minor repairs as well replaced cancellations are noticed, though the overall paper quality fits the assigned grade.
